COSMETOLOGY
The cosmetology course requires 1500 clock hours for completion. The first 100 hours of instruction is general theory class, both clinical and classroom. Theory and clinical instruction will cover the following subjects: Histology of the hair, skin, muscles, and nerves; structures of the head, face, neck, arms, and hands; elementary chemistry relating to sterilization and antiseptics; diseases of the hair, skin, and glands; wig styling and care; shampooing; facial massage and arches; hair coloring and lightening; chemical texture services; hair styling (thinning, trimming, shaping curling); manicuring; sanitation and the use of antiseptics; personal hygiene; written tests; Kentucky State Board Regulations; salesmanship techniques; salon management and professional ethics.
DESCRIPTION: The Cosmetology Course is designed to train the student in the basic manipulative skills, safety judgments, proper work habits, business skills, and desirable attitudes necessary to obtain licensure and competency in job entry-level positions in Cosmetology or a related career field.
